On May 27, Mme. Li Xiaolin, the president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries met with Mr. Peter Robinson and Mr. Martin McGuinness, First Minister and Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, UK.
President Li Xiaolin said problems as environment pollution,energy shortage and food safety occurred in the process of China’s rapid economical development, and this is inevitable in the process of development.To meet these challenges, China and other countries need to learn from each other for common prosperity.We welcome friends from all around the world come here to have a picture of the real China and face the challenges hand in hand together. Vice president Li Jianping also attended the meeting, he introduced the 4th Sino-European Agricultural Seminar which is going to be held by our association in Ningxia Autonomous Region this September and invited agriculture minister of Northern Ireland to attend the seminar.
Mr. Robinson and Mr. McGuinness appreciated the warm invitation and considerate arrangement for their visit. They made a general introduction on Northern Ireland local government and indicated that Northern Ireland’s economy is recovering from the lowered growth as an influence of European debt crisis. Northern Ireland is willing to have a new partnership with China, to promote mutual trade and cooperation in various fields. And they will promote Northern Ireland’s attendance at the coming agricultural seminar.
After meeting, vice president Li Jianping held a banquet for the delegation. Mr Li Ruiyou, Chinese Consulate General in Edinburg, also attended the meeting and banquet.
