On August 23rd, 2013 Mme. Li Xiaolin, the president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, ON, MP, Prime Minister of Jamaica in Peace Palace.
President Li extended her warm welcome to Prime Minister Miller and her party, and recalled her joyful experience of visiting Prime Minister Miller in year 2007 when she visited Jamaica with Mr. Cheng Siwei, the president of China-Latin American and Caribbean Friendship Association. President Li said, since China and Jamaica established diplomatic relations 41 years ago, the bilateral relationship of the two countries had been developing steadily; the friendly cooperation in politics, economy, trade and culture had been deepened. As one of the most active friendship-to-China organizations, Jamaica-China Friendship Association made great contribution to the above mentioned achievements. President Li also briefed the delegation about the work of the CPAFFC
Prime Minister Miller thanked President Li Xiaolin for her hospitality. She highly evaluated Jamaica-China relation and the long lasting friendship between the two peoples. She expressed that the Jamaican government and people would cooperate to give an all-around impetus to the pragmatic cooperation with China in fields of economy, trade, humane culture, sports, environmental protection and media.
Mr. Xie Yuan, the vice president of the CPAFFC, Zhang Heqiang, the director-general of Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, Ji Yongjun, Deputy Director General, Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, Hon. Robert Pickersgill, MP, Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, His Excellency Ralph Thomas, Ambassador of Jamaica to the People’s Republic of China were present at the banquet.
