On Feb. 25th , CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin met with H.E. Mr. Michael Clauss, the German Ambassador to China.

President Li positively appraised the CPAFFC’s cooperation with the German political funds, Germany-China Friendship Association and the German Embassy in China. She made an introduction of the CPAFFC’s recent working plan on German affairs and the brief status of the cooperation among the Chinese friendship cities with their German counterparts. She expressed that, she would lead a youth football team from Zhidan County of Shaanxi Province to visit Germany and play a friendly match with the German players, which was sponsored by Volkswagen and would be a part of the CPAFFC’s Rainbow Bridge Programs. This event would make the children from the Chinese rural area learn more about Germany, and would bring the Chinese and German youth closer.

Ambassador Clauss extended his gratitude to the CPAFFC’s support in the recent years. He said, football was a bridge of enhancing the understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The contacts and dialogues were very important. The latest survey showed that there was a big diversity of the German people’s cognition at China. Developing more people-to-people exchanges was an important method of eliminating divergence and furthering mutual understanding. The German Embassy in China would like to strengthen the cooperation with the CPAFFC and offer facilities for the Chinese and German nongovernmental exchanges.

CPAFFC Vice President Li Jianping, Mr. Klaus Vietze, the political counselor of German Embassy were present at the meeting.
