On December 11, President Li Xiaolin met with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the CPAFFC.
President Li Xiaolin introduced the recent major work of the CPAFFC, particularly cooperations between Chinese and foreign local governments, friendship cities, cultural exchanges, the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, as well as work with former US political dignitaries, underlining that exchanges in the fields of local governments and culture should be further developed.
Blair introduced the cultural and charity work he himself had been devoted to, spoke highly of the achievements of China’s development, praised the rule of law concept, fully recognized the importance of people-to-people friendship and accomplishments of the CPAFFC, and agreed to promote exchanges and cooperations between China and the UK in various fields together with the CPAFFC.
Both sides also exchanged views on topics including China’s development as well as its relations with the world.
Mr. Li Jianping, Vice President of the CPAFFC, and Mr. Song Jingwu, Director-General of the European and Asian Affairs Department of the CPAFFC, were present during the meeting.
