The 3rd China- Canada Cultural Dialogue Held

The 3rd China- Canada Cultural Dialogue was jointly held in Beijing by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Canadian Fund for International Understanding Through Culture from 25 to 26 June, 2012. Lin Yi, Secretary General of the CPAFFC, Dr. Nelly Ng, Chairman of the Canadian Fund for International Understanding through Culture,  Mai Daowei, Counselor, Canadian Embassy in China, and about 100 representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Cultural Heritage, China Soon Ching Ling Foundation, National Institute of Traditional Chinese painting, National Center for the Performing Arts, Canadian Museums Association, Canada Science and Technology Museum and varieties of museums, universities and cultural organizations attended the opening ceremony. 

This Cultural Dialogue made thorough discussions, exchanged experiences, shared results for the training of leadership capacity to further China-Canada cultural communication and cooperation and other subjects. It worked hard to further both cultural organizations to reach the intension of cooperation accordingly, and to increase understanding, deepen mutual trust through cooperation and making equal dialogue.

Secretary General Lin Yi said, we had reached to a situation with rare opportunites for the development of relationship between China and Canada. There were much to do in this regard. The Cultural exchanges between our two countries played an important role. In 2009, China-Canada Cultural Dialogue was jointly held by the Chinese People''''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Canadian Fund for International Understanding Through Culture. The purpose was to establish a cooperation stage for communication between the people of two countries through culture. In 2010, the 2nd China Canada Cultural Dialogue was held in Canada for the subject of celebrating the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada. It was proved that cultural dialogue made more benefits for increasing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of two countries, and it was worthy of continuing to do the culture dialogue.

Dr. Nelly Ng said cultural dialogue had strengthened the communication and cooperation between China and Canada in the field of culture and arts. It would further enrich the contents of cooperation of both sides through concrete cultural programs, and consolidate better friendly relationship between two countries.

During the dialogue, the cultural organizations attended the meeting made a consultation face to face and discussed the possibility of the mutual cooperation. Finally, 12 cooperative letters of intent were signed .
