On April 9, 2020, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries National Council held its Executive Council conference to pass a decision that Lin Songtian, former ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of South Africa, succeeds Mdme Li Xiaolin as member of the Executive Council and president of the Association.
