A Profile of Vice-President Jing Dunquan Attending PMF 2012
Sapporo, the capital city of Hokkaido, is known by the world of its beautiful natural views. In China, it is widely recognized by the people because of Director Feng Xiaogang’s movie If You Are the One.  From July 5th to 8th, Jing Dunquan, the vice-president of the CPAFFC, visited Sapporo, Japan, to attend the opening ceremony of Pacific Music Festival 2012. The weather is pleasant in Sapporo’s July. It was 5 o’clock in the afternoon when we arrived at the New Chitose Airport. On our way to the city of Sapporo, the continuously sparkled rains made the air fresh and cool, which gave us some special feelings.   Pacific Music Festival Pacific Music Festival (also known as Sapporo Music Festival), short as PMF, was initiated by Leonard Bernstein, the world famous conductor, composer, educator, in 1990, aiming at developing music education, enhance international cooperation and promoting world peace. The organizing committee of the music festival selects more than 100 excellent young musicians from all over the world and gathers them to study for one month under the guidance of famous conductors, composers and concert performers. Then, a performance for reporting the musicians’ achievements and revealing the charm of music will be held. This music festival has been successfully held for 22 times. Now, it enjoys equal popularity with Tanglewood Music Festival of the U.S. and the German Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. The above festivals are collectively known as the world’s biggest three educational music festival. Sapporo Music Festival provides the young musicians from all countries a stage to compete with and learn from each other, as well as reveal their music talent. It has built a bridge for them to deepen their understandings and promote their friendship. It also has cultivated generations of young music talents with international views, and promoted the development of the cause of international music education.    Leonard Bernstein,1918-1990 PMF Reception In the evening of July 6th, UEDA FUMIO, the mayor of Sapporo City, held a welcome dinner. Vice-president Jing Dunquan was present and addressed the dinner. He represented the CPAFFC and China-Japan Friendship Association to congratulate Sapporo Music Festival. He believed the music festival would be a magnificent event with specialties and high level under the collaboration of all sides, and leave a wonderful page in history of international music education. Opening Ceremony of PMF It was a sunny day on July 7th. The Opening Ceremony of PMF was held in the afternoon at the Sappora Art Forest, anopen air theater. Jing Dunquan addressed the opening ceremony on behalf of the Chinese guests. He said, music was the common language of the human beings. It could surpass the national boundaries and resonate with souls, thus achieve heart-to-heart communication. Youth was hope of a nation or a country; they were bearing the future of the development of music. Strengthening the communication of youth musicians from all countries is very significant. In the recent years, China had achieved much on cultivating music talents. A great number of youth musicians appeared, such as Lang Lang, Li Yundi and etc. He sincerely hoped more and more Chinese youth musicians could step onto the world-class stage, and communicate China and the world with music, the common art language.     representative of students from Sanjo High School Addressing Sanjo High School Brass Band Performing  SENDAI SANJO Junior High School Brass Band which comes from the disaster area of great earthquake in Eastern Japan, performed Sound of Hope for the audience. Through their wonderful performance and the beautiful melody, the students conveyed their persistence and love for the music, the belief and courage to overcome the disaster, and their optimism for the future. At the end of the performance, there was prolonged applause. The applause was full of encouragement to the Japanese youth, what’s more, the praise on the Japanese people’s sprit of never giving up through disasters, and faith for beautiful future. Later, PMF Orchestra, which made up of youth musicians from the world, entered the stage, and played Mozart: Piano Concerto No.11 (F Major, K413). The musicians presented the audience a wonderful music feast. Although the members of the orchestra came from different countries and regions, the fluency of their performance was natural and clean as flowing water. The audience who had just enjoyed the music feast and live show burst prolonged applause and cheers. The opening ceremony proved a great success.  Meeting with The Mayor of Sapporo During his visit in Sapporo, Vice-President Jing Dunquan had a meeting with Ueda Fumio, the mayor of Sapporo. Both sides exchanged views frankly on further developing cooperation in various circles. The visiting cards of Mayor Ueda were worth of mentioning. They were in four pieces a group with unique cartoon design. This year is the 40th anniversary of normalization of Diplomatic Ties between China and Japan, and Friendly Exchange Year of the Chinese and Japanese People, which announced by both national governments. In order to celebrate this commemorable year, the CPAFFC will cooperate with the organizing committee of Sapporo Music Festival to hold PMF Beijing Concert in August. This will be the first time the PMF Orchestra to perform outside Japan. Welcome the youth musicians from all around the world to come to China, to experience the Chinese people’s enthusiasm on music, and to feel a true, vital China. May the PMF Beijing Concert a great success. Wish this music feast bring people happiness and peace, let the people around the world further understand and recognize the friendship between China and Japan, as well as world peace. Let’s meet again in Beijing!

The CPAFFC Delegation Visited Romania and Bulgaria
Vice-President Li Jianping and the President of Romania-Chinese House Signing Agreement  At the invitation of Romanian-Chinese House and Slaviani Foundation, a CPAFFC delegation headed by vice-president Li Jianping visited Romania and Bulgaria from June 24th to July 4. The delegation also included representatives from the Chinese local government and enterprises, except members of CPAFFC. The Delegation having Symposium with Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania The delegation received great attention from the high level of political circles, local governments, circles of industry and commerce of Romania and Bulgaria. During the visit, the delegation had symposiums separately with Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, vice-president of Bulgaria-China Friendship Group of Council of Bulgaria, Secretary-General of City of Bucharest, chief executive of District 2 of Bucharest, deputy mayor of Brasov City, mayor of Plovdiv City and etc.. Romanian Nero Group held special briefing meeting for the delegation. The Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce held special economic and trade fair for the delegation. Trade Fair Held by Bulgarian Chamer of Commerce & Industry The CPAFFC signed Agreement on Cooperation with Romanian-Chinese House. Plovdiv and Taiyuan City established preliminary contact. The Chinese entrepreneurs achieved preliminary agreements with their Romanian and Bulgarian counterparts on electrical engineering, wine, sale of rose essence, fabrication of energy-saving device and etc.. Tang Jiaxuan Meet with the Japanese Kansai Financial Delegation
In the morning of July, 4th, Tang Jiaxuan, President of China-Japan Friendship Association, met with the Japanese Kansai Financial delegation headed by Mori Syosuke, President of Kansai Economic Federation, and Sato Sigetaka, Director of OSAKA Conference of Commerce and Industry at Zhongnanhai. Jing Dunquan, vice-president of the CPAFFC attended the meeting. Tang Jiaxuan welcomed the delegation. He commended the friends from Kansai financial circle for their continuous devotion on China-Japan friendship, which not only had made positive efforts for promoting and deepening the economic and trading cooperation between two countries, but also contributed a lot for the normalization and development of China-Japan relation. Tang Jiaxuan said, the momentum of China-Japan cooperation in economy and trading was developing well currently. The mutual trade volume recorded high last year, which initiated another investment tide to China in Japan. From June 1st, Renminbi and the Japanese Yen had started direct trading. At the national leaders'' conference of China, Japan and Korea in May, the three countries formally signed the trilateral investment agreement, and reached a consensus on initiating the trilateral free trading zone in 2012. These new measures would give more space and vitality to China-Japan economic and trading cooperation. Tang Jiaxuan  hoped the Kansai financial circle seize the opportunity to deepen the exchanges and cooperation with China. Tang Jiaxuan also said, this year was 40th anniversary of normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relation, and the “The Chinese and Japanese People''s Exchange and Friendship Year”. The people of insight from all circles of two countries should be united to deepen exchanges and cooperation in economic, trading and humane fields, for successfully holding activities of “The Chinese and Japanese People''s Exchange and Friendship Year” .Both sides should eliminate interference to guarantee healthy and stable development of China-Japan relation, and truly realize the people’s exchange which cater to grass-roots level and ordinary people. Mori Syosuke introduced the major achievements of the delegation’s visit and said, in the period of Twelfth Five Year Plan, recycling economy, new energy, green and low-carbon life would become the important fields of the Chinese economic development. In Kansai regions, there were numerous leading enterprises which had advanced technology and ideas in such fields. He wished to further promote the pragmatic exchange and cooperation between both sides, as well as richen the connotation of Sino-Japanese Strategic Reciprocal relations.

During stay in Iran, the Chinese delegation, headed by H.E. Mr. Hua Liming (Vice President of China-Iran Friendship Association and former Chinese Ambassador to Iran) attended the 3rd Annual Conference of Iran-China Friendship Associations, jointly held by the CPAFFC and the Iran-China Friendship Association. H.E. Mr. Abutorabi (First Vice Speaker of Parliament), H.E. Mr. Mehmanparast (Deputy Minister and Spokesman of Ministry of Foreign Affairs), H.E. Mr. Boroojerdi (Chairman of the Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission) and Mr. Ni Ruchi (charge d’affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Iran) respectively met with the Chinese delegation. Visits to cities of Tabriz, Abadan, Qazvin and Isfahan were also arranged for the Chinese delegates. A Communiqué was signed at the Closing Ceremony of the Conference, which stated that the 4th Annual Conference be held in China in 2013. In Egypt, the Chinese delegation held talks with Mr. Ahmed Waly, Vice Chairman of the Egypt-China Friendship Association. Mr. Yuan Mindao, Deputy Director General, Department of Asian and African Affairs of the CPAFFC, conveyed best regards of Madame Li Xiaolin (President of the CPAFFC) and Mr. Feng Zuoku (Vice President of the CPAFFC) to Mr. Waly and expressed the hope for the situation in Egypt be stabilized and people’s living conditions be restored as well as improved. Mr. Yuan extended invitation to Mr. Waly for attending the 4th Chinese-Arab Friendship Conference to be held in Ningxia Autonomous Region of China in September 2012. H.E. Mr. Song Aiguo, Chinese Ambassador in Egypt hosted a banquet both for the Chinese delegation and members of the Egypt-China Friendship Association. In Tunisia, the Chinese delegation exchanged views with Tunisia-China Friendship Association on developing people-to-people relations and cooperation in tourism and trading olive oil and dates. Mr. Kalima Helali, Mayor of Ariana met with the Chinese delegation and expressed his willingness of finding a sister city in China for Ariana, which had geographical and economic advantages in Tunisia.

Ceremony to Launch the China India Joint Medical Mission Ⅲ & Photo Exhibition to Mark the 74th Anniversary of Arrival of Aid-China India Medical Mission
Launch Ceremony On June 25th, The Chinese People''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and China-India Friendship Association (CIFA) jointly held the Ceremony to Launch the China India Joint Medical Mission Ⅲ & Photo Exhibition to Mark the 74th Anniversary of Arrival of Aid-China India Medical Mission in the CPAFFC. Jiang Zhenghua, the former Vice-Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People''s Congress, President of CIFA, Feng Zuoku, Vice-President of the CPAFFC, Executive Vice-President of CIFA, the representatives from the Indian Embassy in China, members of the China India Joint Medical Mission, council members of CIFA and other Chinese and Indian guests were present. vice-president Feng Zuoku at the exhibition This year is the “Year of China-India Friendship & Cooperation”,which was jointly declared by Hu Jingtao, the president of China and Manmohan Singh, the premier of India. This medical mission is one of the series of the national programs of “Year of China-India Friendship & Cooperation” which issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. It is combined by the Indian doctors visiting China to hold free clinic and the Chinese doctors visiting India to hold free clinic. the donation This year is also at the time of 60th anniversary of establishment of CIFA and 70th anniversary of the death of aid- China doctor, the old friend of the Chinese people, Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis. For the above reasons, the CPAFFC and CIFA jointly held Photo Exhibition to Mark the 74th Anniversary of Arrival of Aid-China India Medical Mission. This medical mission assembled 17 Chinese and Indian doctors of departments of surgery, gynecology and stomatology. The medical mission had held free clinic in Hebei Province from June 26th to 30th. In year 2008 and 2010, the CPAFFC and CIFA organized China India Joint Medical Mission twice which composed by excellent Chinese and Indian doctors. They went to the rural areas in China and India, to provide medical service and donate medicines, and left popular stories for China-India people-to-people contacts.  In order to make the deeds of Indian aid-China mission known by more people, at the moment of 74th anniversary of arrival of Aid-China India Medical Mission, the CPAFFC and CIFA jointly produced a theme photo exhibition, which revealed the glorious achievements the India Medical Mission had made through some precious historical pictures. treatment

US-China Forum on the Arts and Culture Held in USA

The 3rd China- Canada Cultural Dialogue Held
Lin Yi, Secretary General of the CPAFFC addressing the opening ceremony The 3rd China- Canada Cultural Dialogue was jointly held in Beijing by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Canadian Fund for International Understanding Through Culture from 25 to 26 June, 2012. Lin Yi, Secretary General of the CPAFFC, Dr. Nelly Ng, Chairman of the Canadian Fund for International Understanding through Culture,  Mai Daowei, Counselor, Canadian Embassy in China, and about 100 representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Cultural Heritage, China Soon Ching Ling Foundation, National Institute of Traditional Chinese painting, National Center for the Performing Arts, Canadian Museums Association, Canada Science and Technology Museum and varieties of museums, universities and cultural organizations attended the opening ceremony.  This Cultural Dialogue made thorough discussions, exchanged experiences, shared results for the training of leadership capacity to further China-Canada cultural communication and cooperation and other subjects. The purpose was to establish a cooperation stage for communication between the people of two countries through culture. In 2010, the 2nd China Canada Cultural Dialogue was held in Canada for the subject of celebrating the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada. It was proved that cultural dialogue made more benefits for increasing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of two countries, and it was worthy of continuing to do the culture dialogue. Dr. Nelly Ng said cultural dialogue had strengthened the communication and cooperation between China and Canada in the field of culture and arts. It would further enrich the contents of cooperation of both sides through concrete cultural programs, and consolidate better friendly relationship between two countries. During the dialogue, the cultural organizations attended the meeting made a consultation face to face and discussed the possibility of the mutual cooperation. Vice-President Jing Dunquan hold Banquet to Welcome Delegation of Japan International Medical & Rescue Team
At the invitation of the CPAFFC, a 15 member delegation of Japan International Medical & Rescue Team which had participated in the earthquake relief work  in Wenchuan, Sichuan, visited Beijing and Sichuan from Jun.12 to 16, 2012. Vice-President Jing Dunquan of the CPAFFC held a banquet to welcome the delegation in Beijing in the evening of Jun.12.  The representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, China Earthquake Administration, the Japanese Embassy in China and Beijing Office of Japan International Cooperation Agency were present. In his address, Jing Dunquan welcomed the delegation’s visit to China, and appreciated the Japanese government and people for their support and assistance given to the Chinese people during the earth quake in Wenchuan, Sichuan. He highly complimented Japan International Medical & Rescue Team for its sublime professional dedication and humanitarianism. Jing Dunquan said, it had been 4 years since the Wenchuan earthquake occurred, the after-disaster reconstruction in earthquake-stricken area had been completed substantially under the strong leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government, as well as the people’s efforts of the whole country which supported by the international community including Japan. The earthquake-stricken area would strive to realize a rapid economic and social development based on the reconstruction. He would sincerely wish and believe the earthquake-stricken area in Northeastern Japan would also resurrect in short time, and achieve further development from a fresh start. He expected China and Japan to continue to cooperate in the field of after-disaster reconstruction. Jing Dunquan said, the visit of Delegation of Japan International Medical & Rescue Team was at the personal invitation of Premir Wen Jiabao, during his visit to Japan in May, 2010; it is one of the important activities of 40th anniversary of normalization of relations between China and Japan. Jing would wish that the delegation’s visit make new contributions for enhancinging people’s friendship as well as promoting the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the field of disaster reduction and prevention, open a magnificent chapter for Friendship Year of The Chinese and Japanese People''''''''s Exchanges. The leader of the delegation of Japan International Medical & Rescue Team, Koizumi Takashi, expressed his gratitude to China-Japan Friendship Association for its kind invitation and warm reception. He says “in order to personally experience the change and development of the disaster area, all the members of the delegation wish to go back to the earthquake-stricken area in Sichuan and see about the achievements of reconstruction. After the large earthquake took place in East Japan last year, the Chinese government and the Chinese people have given Japan huge support. A friend in need is a friend indeed. May the profound friendship between China and Japan last forever; may the people of two countries keep friendship from generation to generation.” During the visit in China, the delegation met respectively with Tang Jiaxuan, president of China-Japan Friendship Association and Wei Hong, the executive vice- governor of Sichuan Province. In addition, the delegation visited the National Emergency Seismic Rescue Training Base of China, the earthquake-stricken area in North Sichuan and Huaxi Hospital, to learn about the achievements of the after-disaster reconstruction, got together and had exchanges with the Chinese crews as well as medical and nursing personnel who the delegates had worked together before.

Stars In Penglai 2012 Internation Symposium Held

Charity Concert Held in National Centre for the Performing Arts
A charity concert, jointly hosted by China Friendship Foundation for Peace & Development and Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Assisted by Beijing Philharmonic Chorus, and sponsored by United Bank of Switzerland was held in National Centre for the Performing Arts at 3 p.m., Jun.10, 2012. Gu xiulian, Vice-chairperson of the 10th NPC Standing Committee, Chairperson of China National Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth; Lin Yi, Secretary-General of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries were present in the activity. This concert was conducted through music generally for school children mentally handicapped in Beijing and its suburb. The aim of the activity was to inspire and cultivate their interest of music, bring out their potential in music, provide them a chance of fully and equally enjoying music, build a bridge between them and the society, accordingly call all circles of the society to show concern for vulnerable groups and commonly promoting the development of causes of helping disabled and special education. The whole concert was consisted with mentally handicapped children’s vocal music, instruments and dances. The children showed their vigor and spirit of youth through their happy performances. Audience were touched by their innocent and bright smile; every heart was deeply moved by their hope of being understood and accepted by the society, their wish of being as strong and kind as others,  and their desire of chasing the dreams with all efforts. At the end of the concert, all performers and children presented singing A Grateful Heart together which climax the concert. Clapping continued for a long time and filled the whole music hall. As a 4A grade organization for public benefit, China Friendship Foundation for Peace & Development has been dedicating to the cause of education especially special education.
