President Li Xiaolin meets with Lee Sae-Gie, President of the Korea-China Friendship Association
On April 29th, President Li Xiaolin met with Lee Sae-Gie, President of the Korea-China Friendship Association. President Li extended welcome to President Lee and indicated that the China-R.O.K. relations enjoyed a steady development at present and the leaders of two countries have kept close contacts and reached important consensuses in various areas like the people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The CPAFFC is willing to strengthen the cooperation with the Korea-China Friendship Association and make positive efforts for the development of bilateral relations. President Li also expressed sympathy to the sinking accident of the South Korean passenger ship Sewol. President Lee thanked President Li for warm reception and briefed her on the recent work of his association as well as future cooperation projects with CPAFFC.

President Li Xiaolin Attends Dance Drama Toki
An experimental performance of the dance drama Toki (Red Ibis), planned by the CPAFFC, Publicity Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and SMEG Performing Arts Group was put on the stage of Shanghai Oriental Art Center on the evening of April 18th . Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the CPAFFC, Mr. Xu Lin, Director General of Publicity Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Mr. Chen Dong, Deputy Director General of Publicity Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Mr. Ohara Masahiro, Consul-General of Japan in Shanghai and representatives of council members of Min-On Concert Association, totaled over 1,000 people watched the performance. This project was launched in 2012 for commemorating 40th anniversary of normalization of relations between China and Japan. Under the concern and direction of President Li Xiaolin, the main staff visited Yang County in Shaanxi and Sado in Japan several times to collect material. After 2 years’ compromise and revision, the large-scale dance drama Toki was finally unveiled to the audience. As President Li Xiaolin said in her speech, Toki was beyond the relations between China and Japan. It emphasized the harmony between human and animal, human and nature, human and human, and reflected human’s longing for peace. In the afternoon of the same day, Shanghai Song and Dance Ensemble signed a letter of intent on performance of Toki in Japan, with  Min-On Concert Association. The Cultural Exchange Department of CPAFFC signed an MOU with SMEG Performing Arts Group.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with President Minnikhanov of Republic of Tatarstan and His Delegation
On the morning of Apr. 16th ,  President Li Xiaolin met with Hon. Mr. Minnikhanov, President of The Republic of Tatarstan of Russia and his delegation, who was visiting China at CPAFFC’s invitation. President Li Xiaolin extended her warm welcome to President Minnikhanov, and briefed him about the basic status and friendship cause with Russia of CPAFFC. She emphasized that, in recent years, the national leaders of the both countries paid great attention to the cooperation in cultural and local exchange. At the same time as CPAFFC has achieved fruitful result in above aspects, it would continuously support and assist The Republic of Tatarstan and other regions in Russia to develop pragmatic cooperations with China, so as to make active efforts for China-Russia strategic and collaborative partnership. President Li warmly invited President Minnikhanov to attend the First Dialogue for Chinese and Russian Governors upcoming in this year. President Minnikhanov said, this visit was the largest one of his visits abroad. He thanked President Li and CPAFFC for the hospitable and high-level reception. He spoke highly of the contribution CPAFFC has made to the cooperation of the Chinese and Russian Regions, and expressed the willingness of working with CPAFFC and giving an impetus to comprehensive strategic and collaborative partnership between China and Russia. H.E. Mr. Denisov, Russian Ambassador to China valued this visit as a warming up foil of President Putin’s visit to China. Vice President Li Jianping of CPAFFC, Director-General Song Jingwu of Department of European and Asian Affairs were present at the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Apple Senior Vice President Bruce Sewell
President Li Xiaolin met with Mr. Bruce Sewell, Apple Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Legal and Government Affairs on April 10th in Beijing. President Li briefed Mr. Sewell on CPAFFC’s forthcoming exchange and cooperation programs with the U.S. and its philanthropic project The Rainbow Bridge. President Li said that CPAFFC has carried out a number of cooperation projects with the U.S. companies which yielded positive social impacts, and the Association would like to explore areas for cooperation with Apple and jointly promote the healthy development of China - US relations and friendly people-to-people exchanges between China and the U.S. Mr. Bruce Sewell thanked President Li for taking time to meet him. He introduced Apple’s development and future plan in China, and emphasized that while Apple is dedicated to its business growth in China, the company is also committed to fulfilling corporate social responsibility and adapting to the Chinese culture and society. Apple hopes to carry out cooperation with CPAFFC in areas such as environmental protection, workers training and innovation in the future.

President Li Xiaolin and Secretary-General Li Xikui Meet with Filipino Guest
On Apr 8th,  CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin  and  Secretary-General Li Xikui met with Mr. Lorenzo Ku, President of China and Philippine Trade Promotion Association. At the meeting, the both sides discussed on how to better promote the cooperation in fields of local governments and economy between the two counties. Mr. Ku is one of the pioneers of the cause of China-Philippines Friendship. The CPAFFC awarded him “The People’s Friendship Award”. By his support, China and Philippines have established 3 pairs of  friendship cities. In the last year, he led a delegation of local governments of Philippines to attend The Forum of International Friendship Cities in China. He said, the exchanges and cooperation of the local governments between the two countries is significant of the development of the friendly relationship. He hoped to work closely with CPAFFC and make continuous contribution to the development of friendly relation for the both countries. Zhang Juxiang, Director-General of China Service Center for Friendship and Cooperation with Foreign Countries was present at the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets Japanese Guests
On April 8th, President Li Xiaolin met with Matsui Shunichi, Chairman of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China and Mitsubishi Corporation in Eastern Asian District and his delegation. Wang Xiuyun, the director-general of the department of Japanese Affairs of Chinese People''s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), attended the meeting. President Li expressed her compliments on the contributions made by Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China and Mitsubishi Corporation to promoting the friendship between China and Japan for a great many years. President Li said that since the program of “Entering Japanese Company and Experiencing Japanese Culture” for the Chinese university students was jointly held by CPAFFC, China-Japan Friendship Association and Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China in 2007, more than 400 Chinese university students have visited Japan in 13 times. Through visiting Japan, the Chinese university students’ understanding of the Japanese society and economy was deepened, and the friendship of the young generation between the two countries was enhanced. President Li pointed out that at present the relationship between China and Japan was confronted with severe difficulties, which would inevitably influenced the exchanges and cooperation in various fields. This was not what China would like to see. She hoped that the personages of various circles in two countries could work hard together with firm belief, and make more contributions which benefits the friendship of the two countries, including strengthening the exchanges and cooperation in fields of economy, culture, sports, local government and youth, so as to maintain the general interest of China-Japan relationship. Matsui Shunichi congratulated CPAFFC on her 60th anniversary of the establishment and thanked President Li and CPAFFC’s long-term and active efforts on promoting the development of China-Japan relationship. He expressed that, in the difficult situation of China-Japan relationship, the two countries should insist in friendly exchanges and broadening the pragmatic cooperation in various fields, so as to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. He would like to continuously strengthen the cooperation with CPAFFC in the future, and urge China-Japan relationship to improve with people-to-people contact.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Official of United Nations
President Li Xiaolin met with Mr. Xu Yicheng, Deputy Director of the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health of the Office of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Beijing on April 2nd. Mr. Xu briefed on the work carried out by his team on improving the health of women and children around the world, and put forward his suggestions on the future collaboration between the two organizations. President Li gave a brief introduction of CPAFFC, and she noted that being a NGO with a general consultative status of UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), CPAFFC attaches great importance to cooperating with relevant UN agencies, and it is willing to extend necessary assistance to the projects implemented by the Office of UN Secretary-General. Zhang Heqiang, Director General of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs attended the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Chair of the Board and CEO of DuPont
President Li Xiaolin met with Mme. Ellen Kullman, Chair of the Board and CEO of DuPont and Chair of U.S.-China Business Council on 21st March in Beijing. President Li briefed Mme. Kullman on CPAFFC’s objectives of enhancing people’s friendship and the forthcoming exchanges and cooperation programs with the U.S. and expressed the willingness to work together with the U.S. business community to strengthen China-U.S. people-to-people exchanges so as to promote the development of China-US relationship. Ms. Kullman expressed thanks to President Li for meeting with her and introduced DuPont’s development in China. They also exchanged views on China-US relations and the opportunities and challenges facing China’s future development.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Russian Ambassador to China
On March 18th, CPAFFC President Li Xiaolin met with H.E. Andrey Denisov, the Russian Ambassador to China. President Li briefed Ambassador Denisov about the recent status of the CPAFFC’s exchanges  with Russia, and emphasized on the progress of the preparation for Dialogue of China-Russia Governors, as well as other CPAFFC’s plans on the important events going to be held in this year. Ambassador Denisov spoke highly of CPAFFC’s efforts on developing China-Russia people-to-people friendship and the local contact between the two countries. He said, the Russian Embassy in China would like to keep fluent communication with CPAFFC on Dialogue of China-Russia Governors and other correlative events, so as to jointly assure the events successfully held. Mr. Tomikhin Evgeny, the Minister-Counsellor of Russian Embassy in China and Mr. Song Jingwu, Director General of Department of European and Asian Affairs of the CPAFFC were present at the meeting.

President Li Xiaolin Meets with Neil Bush
On March 6th, President Li Xiaolin met with Neil Bush and representatives of the Texas A&M University System. Neil Bush is the third son of the 41st U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush and the younger brother of George W. Bush, the 43rd U.S. President. The two sides held discussion on co-hosting George H.W. Bush 6th Biennial China-U.S. Relations Conference in Beijing in September 2014.
